Graphic design has a rich and varied history. The word “graphic design” didn’t appear on the scene until 1922, when artist, William Dwiggins created the word to describe the art of designing with graphics. In the earliest days of graphic design, professionals drew by hand, and the art is still seen as creative and unique. However, in the last 60 years graphic design has moved ahead, advancing rapidly since the addition of today’s digital art tools. Each year bringing new, innovative ideas to allow the Graphic Artist to develop more elaborate works, with less effort. The one thing that never changes…is the ability to ‘see’ beyond the average imagination.

Graphic design is important in the sales and marketing of products, and is a critical component of brochures and logos. Therefore, graphic designers, also referred to as graphic artists or communication designers, often work closely with people in advertising and promotions, public relations, and marketing.
Frequently, designers specialize in a particular category or type of client. For example, some create the graphics used in packaging for various types of retail products, while others may work on the visual design used on a book jacket.
Graphic designers also need to keep up to date with the latest software and computer technologies to remain competitive.
Some individuals with a background in graphic design teach in design schools, colleges, and universities.
Graphic Design in Sales and Marketing
Welcome to my website! My blog will teach you what Graphic Designers do and how our craft can assist and influence marketing and sales.
Graphic Designers combine art and technology to communicate ideas through images and the layout of websites and print work. We use a variety of design elements to achieve artistic or decorative effects.
Graphic Designers work with both text and images. We often select the color, typeface, font, size, and size and line length of headlines, headings, and body text. Graphic Designers also decide how images and text will go together on a printed or webpage, including how much space each will have, because white space is as important and the body of work When using text in layouts, graphic designers work closely with writers who choose the appropriate words and decide whether they will be put into paragraphs, lists, or tables. Through the use of images, text, and color, Graphic Designers can transform statistical data into visual graphics and diagrams, which can make complex ideas more accessible.
